We begin our study of Matthew's account of Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount." We receive a clear revelation, through this account, of Jesus as the "new law giver"—over and against Moses. He begins his authoritative teaching with the proclamation of the "Ethics of the Kingdom" and the blessings of being subject to the rule and reign of God on earth.
